چکیده

Avascular necrosis of bone (AVN) is increasingly being recognized as a complication SLE and causes significant disability due to pain mobility limitations. We studied the prevalence factors associated with avascular in multiethnic cohort. patients who visited outpatient clinic from October 2017 April 2019 were considered eligible. Their medical records reviewed identify developed symptomatic AVN, confirmed by either magnetic resonance imaging or plain radiography. Subsequently, their disease characteristics treatment compared did not have AVN. Multivariable logistic regression analyses performed determine independent AVN among A total 390 recruited, majority them females (92.6%); predominantly Malay ethnicity (59.5%), followed Chinese (35.9%) Indian (4.6%). The was 14.1%, mean age diagnosis 37.6 ± 14.4 years. Both univariate multivariable revealed that longer duration, high LDL-C (low density lipoprotein cholesterol), positive anti-cardiolipin (aCL) IgG anti-dsDNA results, history an oral prednisolone dose more than 30 mg daily for at least 4 weeks osteoporotic fractures significantly On other hand, hydroxychloroquin (HCQ), mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) bisphosphonate use lower risk No associations found. In conclusion, several modifiable found be these may used are developing such complications. potential protective effects HCQ, MMF bisphosphonates warrant additional studies.

Non-corticosteroid risk factors of symptomatic avascular necrosis of bone in systemic lupus erythematosus: A retrospective case-control study.

OBJECTIVE Avascular necrosis of bone (AVN) is an important complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Corticosteroid therapy has been underlined as a main risk factor for osteonecrosis. However, AVN development in patients who have never received corticosteroid and the absence of AVN in the majority of the patients, who received corticosteroid, propose a role for non-corticosteroid ris...

Traditional cardiovascular risk factors in a cohort of juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (J-SLE)

Results 14 J-SLE female patients were included, with disease onset between 6 and 16 years of age (mean 11,9 years), and mean disease duration of 6,5 years (2-15 years). Five patients had systemic hypertension (4 of them with renal disease), none smoked. 3 patients were overweight (1 with dysplidemia), 11 had normal weight. Total cholesterol>200 mg/dL in 3 patients, low-density lipoprotein chole...

Early treatment of avascular necrosis in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hips is associated with significant disability, and the majority of established cases require major surgery. In a retrospective analysis of 185 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) 13 (7%) were found to have AVN. Of these, six had Raynaud's phenomenon, all had been on corticosteroids, and one had digital vasculitis. The mean duration of corticosteroid...

Avascular necrosis of bone in systemic lupus erythematosus.

The pathogenesis of avascular necrosis of bone (ANB) was investigated in 111 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (24 with ANB, 87 without ANB); patients' ages, corticosteroid treatment, clinical and laboratory features associated with SLE, and haemostatic profiles were all taken into account. The mean ages of patients with and without ANB at the time of diagnosis of SLE was 24.1 an...

Risk factors for avascular necrosis of bone in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: is there a role for antiphospholipid antibodies?

BACKGROUND Avascular necrosis of bone (AVN) is a well known complication in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of antiphospholipid antibody status (IgM and IgG anticardiolipin antibodies and lupus anticoagulant) with adjustment for corticosteroid use as risk factors for the development of AVN. METHODS A cohort of 265 patients receiving long t...
